Our mission and vision

My primary objective is to share my deep fascination and knowledge of millets with a wider audience, positioning this blog as a trusted resource for anyone interested in these ancient grains. My own journey began four years ago with an hour-long video featuring Dr. Khadar Valli, an Indian scientist who has dedicated over 20 years to studying millets. While much of his initial talk was new to me, his passion and insights resonated deeply, inspiring me to embark on my own research. Since then, I have immersed myself in the study of millets and have developed a profound appreciation for their nutritional power. Through this blog, I want to share what I have learned with others. This blog is my small way of continuing to spread the word and follow in his footsteps. I am deeply grateful to Dr. Khadar Valli for his foundational work and generosity in sharing his knowledge.

This blog is all about “millets”— ancient grains waiting to be rediscovered! This blog is dedicated to shed a light on these resilient, nutritious grains that have sustained communities for thousands of years but are still largely overlooked in modern diets, particularly in the West.

Millets are more than just an alternative to traditional grains—they’re a naturally gluten-free option packed with unique flavors, textures, and impressive health benefits. From the nutty chewiness of foxtail millet to the subtle sweetness of barnyard millet, and the hearty adaptability of sorghum, each variety offers something special to the table. These grains aren’t just good for the body, they also bring diversity and excitement to every meal.

Millets are known for their incredible nutritional profile. Packed with essential vitamins, minerals, fiber, and antioxidants, they support digestive health, help maintain blood sugar levels, and provide a rich source of plant-based protein. Not only are they easy on the stomach and beneficial for overall health, but they also offer an environmentally sustainable option for those looking to reduce their ecological footprint. As drought-resistant crops, millets can thrive in a variety of climates, making them an important part of sustainable agriculture.

The blog aims to create awareness and inspire a broader appreciation of millets. Whether exploring nutrient-rich foods, looking for gluten-free alternatives, or seeking to support sustainable farming practices, this blog is dedicated to educating about the versatility and benefits of these ancient grains.

More farmers are becoming aware of millets and its benefits. Millets are also climate change friendly crops and requires much less water and less or no pestisides to grow.

This blog explores millets, rediscover their ancient wisdom, and embrace the joy of nourishing the body with wholesome, delicious food. Whether you’re new to millets or have already fallen in love with them, this journey is about learning, sharing, and making millets a regular part of the diet for health, taste, and the planet. Welcome to the milletage revolution!

Climate Smart Farming

Millets are considered superfoods of tomorrow!

In the modern health conscious world, three major trends are reshaping how people choose their foods that have superior nutrition with high fibre and protein content, digestive and metabolic health benefits, and wellness focused such as non-GMO and gluten-free. Millet is an ancient grain that has nourished civilisations for thousands of years and perfectly aligns with all three of these contemporary health priorities.
